Once discovered, Babs wasn’t going to keep the songs inside.
A few years ago a procedural sinus surgery went drastically wrong, tragically changing her vision permanently. As a newly vision-impaired person, she lost much of her independence as well.
It was a turning point, marking a search for how to fill her changed life, and leading her to singing jazz. The lyrics already seemed to be inside her, and when she sings, the rest of the world melts away.
While Babs’ entry into the jazz world is just beginning, she is no stranger to performance. She has 20 years of stage experience with audiences of all sizes, and over 10 years singing with groups both large and small on stage. She has the innate ability to captivate audiences and bond with them from the very first note.
Barbara was affectionately nicknamed “Babs” by her father from a young age. So many of the songs she loves harken to his era, so naturally, “Babs Davis Jazz” speaks to her as she launches into this new world.
